Gilgeori toast (길거리 토스트), the famous ‘street sandwich’ we tried in Korea. A typical breakfast that you can now make at home.

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 30g butter
  • 2 slices of cooked ham
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons of ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar

For the omelette

  • 2 eggs
  • 15 g of cabbage
  • 5 g of carrot
  • 5 g of chives
  • 2 pinches of salt

Step by step

  1. 1 Julienne the cabbage, carrot and spring onion. Add the eggs and the salt. Mix it.
  2. 2 Toast the bread in a frying pan with butter until golden brown and crispy. Set aside.
  3. 3 Pour the egg and vegetable mixture into the pan. While it is cooking, shape the omelette into a square so that it fits with the bread.
  4. 4 Place cheddar cheese on top of the omelette so that it melts.
  5. 5 Brown the cooked ham in the same pan.
  6. 6 Assemble the sandwich: bread - sugar - ketchup - mayonnaise - omelette - cheese - ham - mayonnaise - ketchup - sugar - bread.
