This version of Tteokbokki is perfect for those who do not eat spicy food.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of tteok
  • 150 g oyster mushrooms
  • ½ onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 50 g chives

Sauce

  • 25 g soy sauce (Sempio jinganjang)
  • 10 g brown sugar
  • 5 g sesame oil
  • 1 clove of garlic

Step by step

  1. 1 Cut the onion into strips and the chives diagonally.
  2. 2 Cut the green pepper into thin strips.
  3. 3 Break the oyster mushrooms with your hands.
  4. 4 In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sugar, chopped garlic and sesame oil.
  5. 5 Sauté the mushrooms in a frying pan over medium-low heat and set aside.
  6. 6 In the same pan, sauté the onion, green pepper and chives.
  7. 7 Add the sautéed mushrooms and tteok.
  8. 8 Add water until lightly covered and add the sauce.
  9. 9 Boil until the tteok is soft and reduce until the sauce thickens.
